Common palm oil price conversions

Palm oil is quoted per tonne almost everywhere, but in ringgit on the Malaysian market and in US dollars for international cargoes — so buyers constantly convert between the two. Retail and specialty buyers often want a per-kilogram figure as well.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert RM per tonne to USD per tonne?

Divide the ringgit price by the USD/MYR exchange rate. For example, RM 4,200 ÷ 4.20 = USD 1,000 per tonne. This converter does it with the live daily rate and also switches between per-tonne, per-kilogram and per-pound.

Which exchange rate does the converter use?

A daily reference rate from public data (FRED and open FX sources), shown beneath the result. It is a reference, not a dealt bank rate — your actual conversion rate will vary slightly.

How many kilograms are in a tonne of palm oil?

A metric tonne is 1,000 kilograms, so a price per kilogram is one-thousandth of the price per tonne. One tonne is about 2,204.6 pounds.
