Palm Oil Economics Data Use License
Version 1.0 | Effective 24 July 2026
This license governs use of dataset compilations, derived calculations, forecasts, annotations and data presentation created by Palm Oil Economics ("POE Material"). It does not replace or expand the rights granted by an original third-party data provider.
1. Limited permission
While you comply with this license, Palm Oil Economics grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable right to access and use POE Material for internal business analysis, personal research, education, evaluation and editorial reporting. You may quote limited extracts or publish screenshots when the use is proportionate, does not substitute for the dataset, and includes the attribution described below.
2. Restricted uses
Without prior written permission, you must not:
- reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license or commercially exploit all or a substantial part of POE Material;
- use POE Material to build or operate a competing database, price feed, market intelligence service or substantially similar product;
- perform bulk extraction, systematic scraping or automated collection beyond access expressly permitted by Palm Oil Economics;
- use POE Material to train, fine-tune, benchmark or populate a machine-learning or generative-AI system;
- remove source notices, obscure attribution, misrepresent derived values as official source data, or imply endorsement by Palm Oil Economics or an upstream provider; or
- use POE Material unlawfully or to mislead another person.
3. Attribution
Permitted public extracts must identify the dataset and use substantially the following credit: "Source: Palm Oil Economics, [dataset name], palmoileconomics.com, accessed [date]." Existing attribution to an upstream provider must be retained.
4. POE-derived data
POE forecasts, accuracy measurements, indicative derivative prices, spreads, conversions, classifications and written interpretations are POE Material. The limited permission and restrictions in this license apply to those additions to the extent protected by applicable law.
5. POE-compiled data
Policy trackers and other POE-curated collections combine facts from multiple official publications. Palm Oil Economics licenses only its selection, arrangement, annotations and original analysis. Rights in each underlying publication remain with its source.
6. Composite datasets
Composite datasets may combine public-domain, openly licensed and restricted source material. This license applies to POE transformations and presentation. It does not impose new restrictions on raw public-domain information, and it does not grant rights that an upstream provider has withheld. Users who need to redistribute raw source data should obtain it directly from the source and follow that source's current terms.
7. MPOB source data
Malaysian palm oil statistics and prices identified as MPOB data originate from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. MPOB retains any rights it holds in its publications and databases. This license covers only POE's parsing, selection, arrangement, conversion, commentary and presentation; it does not grant a right to redistribute MPOB source material.
8. Principal upstream terms
Upstream terms can change and always control the original source material. Principal sources currently include:
- World Bank data licensing
- International Monetary Fund copyright and data-use terms
- U.S. Energy Information Administration reuse policy
- U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission web policy
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- MET Norway licensing and data policy
- Malaysian Palm Oil Board
9. No trading advice or warranty
Data and analysis are supplied for general information only. They are not a quotation, offer, financial instrument or trading advice. POE Material is provided "as is" without a warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness or fitness for a particular purpose. Verify material information independently before acting.
10. Ownership and termination
No ownership is transferred. The permission granted by this license ends automatically if you materially breach its terms. Rights that cannot lawfully be restricted, including applicable statutory exceptions, are unaffected.
11. Permissions and questions
For redistribution, data-feed, model-training or other permissions beyond this license, contact Palm Oil Economics through the Connect page. This versioned page remains the authoritative text for version 1.0.
