Empty Fruit Bunch Fibre & Compost (EFB)

Plantation biomass reborn as fibre and mulch

Shredded brown empty fruit bunch fibre alongside dark palm compost

Product Overview

The empty bunch stalks left after fresh fruit bunches are sterilised and stripped of their fruitlets. This bulky, moist fibrous biomass is shredded and pressed into fibre, or composted, often with palm oil mill effluent.

Applications & Uses

Shredded fibre for mattress and upholstery filling, erosion-control mats, pulp and fibreboard, and boiler fuel; composted EFB is returned to plantations as organic mulch and fertiliser.
