Crude Palm Oil (CPO)
The world's most-produced vegetable oil
Pressed from the fleshy orange mesocarp of the oil-palm fruit, crude palm oil is roughly 50% saturated fat. Its two dominant fatty acids are palmitic (C16, saturated) and oleic (C18:1, monounsaturated). It is the primary feedstock later refined, bleached and deodorised (RBD) into most edible palm products.
Refining into cooking and frying oils, margarine, shortening and confectionery fats; oleochemical feedstock; biodiesel feedstock under Indonesia's escalating blending mandate (B40, raised to B50 from mid-2026) and Malaysia's biodiesel programme; soap manufacture.
